THE SEO MASTERCLASS
DAY 1 - What is SEO?
Your objectives for today's lesson:
First, let's look at and understand Google's mission:
'To organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful"
Google's primary goal is to provide it's users with the BEST possible information when they perform a search. In turn making it your mission to create content that is both high quality and relevant to your ideal clients, customers or readers.
Your site will then be ranked based on Google's algorithm, which, in its entirety isn't known. However, we do know from past experience that part of the algorithm does include things like site speed, the quality of content, number of links and site structure.
So be sure to take these factors into consideration when building your website and creating your content.
The ranking of your site can be split into two factors, On-Page & Off-Page.
Examples of On-Page factors are your content and your site structure. Off Page factors are links to your site.
You ranking on Google demands that you spend time putting together an SEO strategy that includes factors such as your content, social media posts, and your marketing. In addition to that knowing your ideal customer will help in ensuring your SEO strategy is being targeted at the right audience.
It has been said that your SEO strategy is the 21st centuries marketing strategy!
Google is the online version of the Yellowpages.
If you're looking for something, you'll log on to your computer, head to Google and perform a search. Based on the keyword or phrase you type in, you'll get a list of relevant options to choose from and more than likely you'll click on the top one or at least one that falls on the first page.
So, as a business owner, if your company is the first option or at least one that falls on that first page you have the advantage of either making a sale, getting a lead or getting more traffic to your website equally more people knowing about you!
In this day and age, every online business should factor SEO into their business plan, however, business and website owners should know that SEO can take time and results may only be seen days, weeks or even months later.
SEO is a marathon, not a sprint, enjoy the journey!
